A pair of rare cars from the Estate of lifelong Jaguar enthusiast Geoffrey Howard — an extremely rare SS90 Roadster and a Jaguar SS100 Roadster — will headline next month’s Bonhams Auction at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. Seldom does one of the few SS90s still in existence come up for public sale, and this particular example is correct and original, but needs freshening as Howard acquired it nearly 45 years ago and began a restoration that, ultimately, he never did finish.
The subsequent SS100 model, given its name because of its ability to reach 100mph, sold well and spurred the company toward its outright victories at Le Mans in the 1950s. This particular example was acquired by Howard about the same time as the SS90.
Another leaping cat, a 1958 XK150 3.4-Liter Roadster that for many years was Howard’s daily driver, is also being sold. These Jaguar sports cars are but three of many – including a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Cabriolet – that will be offered for sale on Sunday, May 31 at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut, just 30 miles north of New York City.
