Hershel McGriff was an up-and-coming West Coast stock car racer when a friend suggested that he run his 1950 Oldsmobile in a crazy, new 1000-mile race being held in Mexico. Little did McGriff know that he would not only win that first Carrera Panamericana race, but that it would become one of the crowning achievements of his racing career. Casey Annis spoke with McGriff about his racing career and the famed Mexican Road Race.
