With the 12th annual Goodwood Revival set for September 18–20, the organizers are planning to celebrate a pair of prominent Golden Anniversaries. It’s now been a full 50 years since Aston Martin clinched its World Sportscar Championship with victory in the 6-hour Tourist Trophy race at the track, and 1959 was also the year that the British Motor Corporation introduced Sir Alec Issigonis’s groundbreaking Mini design.
In addition to the usual schedule of races, the Aston success will be commemorated with a special 1-hour Lavant Cup race for cars “in the spirit of the Goodwood TT races” of 1958–’59, while the Mini’s debut will be honored with a special Mini-only race for the St. Mary’s Trophy.
