George Follmer, the subject of this month’s VR Interview (page 30), was inducted into the Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame during ceremonies at the International Motor Racing Research Center in early October. The Walk of Fame is a project of the Watkins Glen Historic Committee, sponsored by the Research Center, and is made up of nearly five dozen granite stones inscribed with the names of the inductees. It was established in 1993 to honor the men and women who have helped make Watkins Glen the successful venue that it is.
Follmer’s stone lists his four championships—1965 USRRC, 1972 Can-Am, and the 1972 and 1974 Trans-Am—and will be placed just outside the IMRRC’s front door.
