The 11th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance was held on March 10–12, and again featured a wide variety of racing history including a working recreation of the Stanley Steamer that Fred Marriott drove to a Land Speed Record in 1906, an impressive collection of racing Jaguars, as well as various racecars from the storied career of the event’s honoree, Indy racing legend Johnny Rutherford.
But, of the dozens of significant racing machines taking part in this year’s event, Peter Sachs’s 1961 Ferrari 250 TRI/61rose above the rest, in the judge’s eyes, and was awarded the prestigious “Ritz-Carlton, Best in Show, Concours de Sport” prize for the best racing car.
