RM Auctions will offer ‘without reserve’ more than 50 vehicles from the Don Davis Collection during a single-day, single-vendor auction, scheduled for April 27th, 2013 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Don Davis Collection is the result of decades of acquisition by enthusiast and businessman, Don Davis.Honed by years of business in the automotive industry, Davis built the collection with American horsepower to European sports and GT cars, joined by a selection of unusual finds. The offering has an emphasis on high quality, low production examples, many of which have been recipients of complete body-off, nut-and-bolt restorations, and all of which have been maintained by a professional staff.

“RM Auctions takes great pride in representing the world’s best automobile collections, and in every case the pervading theme is quality. Every enthusiast we have had the honor of working with has taken it upon themselves to find the finest motor cars, in terms of rarity, condition and specification. The resulting collection thereby not only tells a story of automotive history but also the owner’s dedication to perfection,” says Alain Squindo, Director Private Collections, RM Auctions.

“Don Davis truly has the ‘collector’s collection.’ He’s handpicked the most desirable cars from watershed moments of automotive history, representing the finest in European and American design, engineering and performance, be it a 289 Cobra, Ferrari Daytona or Mercedes-Benz 300 SL right up to modern collectibles such as the Porsche 959. We are truly honored to have been selected by Mr. Davis to present his prized collection at auction and look forward to returning to Texas in April,” Squindo adds.

Headlining the Don Davis Collection for the April 2013 auction is a selection of American automobiles, led by a pair of 289 Cobras as well as a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Big Tank Coupe. Among other notable American-built collector cars on offer are a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham¸ a 1958 Dual-Ghia Convertible and a 1941 Chrysler Newport Dual Cowl Phaeton, the actual pace car of the 1941 Indianapolis 500 race and subsequently owned and driven by Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. The offering also spans more than 70 years of Ford Motor Company design from a 1932 Ford Three-Window Coupe through to a 2005 Ford GT.

Beyond the American automobiles, European marques are also well represented with a roster of Italian and German motor cars. Highlights include a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS and a pair of 365 GTB/4 Daytonas in both open and closed form. The collection also features a line-up of German cars from Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. For Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts, there is a trio of 300 SLs: two roadsters and one Gullwing, along with a pair of 280 SLs. The Porsche offering runs the gamut of the marque’s history from early 356 models through a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS and culminating with a 1988 Porsche 959.

The Don Davis Collection joins the existing docket of events on the 2013 RM Auctions schedule, including the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum Collection, February 15-16 in Madison, Georgia.
