The 2016 edition of the Classic Sports Racing Group’s annual Charity Challenge will honor MG as its featured marque. The showcase event will take place October 1-2 at California’s Sonoma Raceway.
Many are the “household names” who took their early steps toward glory behind the wheel of an MG, men like Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby, Ronnie Bucknum and Joe Huffaker (who also built them), with even Tazio Nuvolari taking a K3 to a record-setting victory in the 1933 Ulster Tourist Trophy.
CSRG’s Charity Challenge will host more than 250 cars of all different types, from F1, Can-Am, Trans-Am, Endurance and Formula cars to the Production Sports Cars that have long been the backbone of sports car racing in the USA. Always among the Charity Challenge weekend’s highlights are the spectator ride-alongs that pair competitors with fans who can enjoy a three-lap ride in a racing car in exchange for a tax-deductible donation to the Sonoma chapter of The Speedway Children’s Charities. To date CSRG has raised more than $750,000 for the charity.
