The fourth annual Arizona Concours d’Elegance, scheduled for January 15, 2017, on the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore, will host nearly 100 exceptional vintage automobiles competing for awards in 17 classes as well as Best-of-Show. A special class for Lincolns of the Classic Era will be one of the highlights of this year’s Concours, and one of the featured cars in that exhibition will be the 1936 Lincoln Model K LeBaron Sport Coupe in gleaming Mercury Metallic paint (above, photo courtesy of the Arizona Concours) owned by Ray and Bonnie Kinney of Dallas, Texas.
Lincoln’s K-Series was produced from 1930 through 1940, and in 1933, a standard V12 engine replaced the prior V8. For 1936, the Model K’s shape featured streamlined fenders and lowered headlights. The windshield was swept back at a 27-degree angle and the previous wire wheels were replaced with pressed-steel discs that gave the car a more modern look. At the time, Lincoln’s entry-level Model K sold for about $4,700 — more than the cost of an average home at the time.
