In 1938, Ettore Bugatti set about designing a revolutionary air racer to compete in the 1939 Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup Race. This futuristic looking aircraft featured two, counter-rotating propellors driven by twin, 4.9-liter, inline-8 cylinder race motors sourced from the Bugatti Type 50B.
Artist Fernando Hoyos captures the technical details of these two Bugatti racers in a paining done in watercolor, tempera, ink, and pencil.
