The inaugural Bonhams Scottsdale auction will be held January 19th, 2012 at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bonhams assembled approximately 65 automobiles for their first foray into Arizona Auction Week, headlined by the 1967 Porsche 906E Racing Coupe, 1924 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 Torpedo Tourer, 1932 Packard Model 904 Custom Convertible Victoria with coachwork by Dietrich and Marlene Dietrich’s former 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Transformable Convertible Sedan.

Malcolm Barber, Bonhams CEO, commented on the 2012 auction, “The new Scottsdale sale will be a worthy and welcome addition to our worldwide portfolio of blue ribbonand sales an appropriate addition to our annual offerings and one that has been requested andand has been much anticipated by international collectors for quite some time.”

The 1967 Porsche 906E Einspritzrung ‘Long Nose, Short Tail’ is a factory team car, one of the last four ‘Carrera 6’ models to have been manufactured that season. It made its racing debut as a ‘Porsche System Engineering’ Works team entry in the 1967 Sebring 12-Hours, co-driven by Americans Joe Buzzetta and Peter Gregg. The car later went on to tie for first place in the United States Road Racing Under Two-Liter Championship with driver Scooter Patrick. It has since been restored to a high standard, representing its 1967 Championship specification, and it retains all the features which made it so special in that era, including its rare Bosch mechanical fuel-injected, 2.0-liter 6-cylinder, twin-plug motor.

The Bonhams Scottsdale auction will be held January 19th, 2012 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Admission to the 2012 Bonhams Arizona sale comes with purchase of a catalog for $75, which admits two people. Previews for the motorcars and automobilia will take place on Tuesday, January 17th from 12pm to 6pm and Wednesday, January 18th from 10:00am – 5:00pm.
