Bonhams Greenwich 2013 – Auction Preview

Avatar photoVR Staff

The Bonhams Greenwich Auction 2013 will be held Sunday, June 2nd at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Connecticut. The sixth annual sale will see a strong selection of 100 motor cars offered for sale, including models from Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Cadillac, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Rolls-Royce, among others.

Leading this consignments for the 2013 Bonhams Greenwich sale is a 1930 Bugatti Type 43 Supercharged 2/4 Seater.Acclaimed as a racing car with a touring body, this open-top car has a well-documented history and is the recipient of a restoration by marque experts. It has since won multiple awards, most notably at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and is eligible for the top events, including the Mille Miglia and Le Mans Classic.

A rare 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante, formerly owned by famed composer Leonard Bernstein, is also sure to generate interest. One of just 29 made, this convertible model benefits from the Vantage specifications. Another notable Aston is a 1961 DB4 Series III Coupe, an original left-hand drive model delivered new to the United States where it has remained and been maintained in strong condition.

Of the Rolls-Royces on offer are two that are particular standouts — a 1923 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Pall Mall Tourer and a 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Newmarket All-Weather Convertible Sedan. The Silver Ghost is a fully restored Great Gatsby-esque car that has been in single-family ownership since the 1930s and will be offered without reserve, while the Newmarket Sedan was originally delivered new to the owner of the Cincinnati Reds and is a well-documented example with multiple Concours awards to its credit.

Held in association with the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, the Bonhams Greenwich auction will be held Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut, only 30 miles north of New York City. Admission comes with purchase of a catalog for $45, which admits two people. Previews for the motor cars and automobilia will take place on Saturday, June 1st from 10am to 5pm. The automobilia sale begins at 9:30am on Sunday, June 2nd with the motor cars to follow at 12:30pm.
