1969 Ford Mustang “KINGPIN”

Ringbrothers Reveals 800-Horsepower Restomod

Sportscar, Muscle car, or Supercar, YOU DECIDE!!!

Ringbrothers, the world-renowned custom car builder and parts manufacturer, unveiled its latest creation, “KINGPIN,” today at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The new build pushes the limits of performance and aesthetics of one of America’s most iconic muscle cars, the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. A result of over 5,500 meticulous build hours, KINGPIN perfectly combines the design of a 20th-century icon with 21st-century technology.

KINGPIN is a complete reimagining of the original Ford Mustang Mach 1, featuring performance levels that far surpass those of the factory model. At the heart of the build is a Wegner Motorsports 5.0-liter Coyote V8, topped with a Whipple supercharger that produces well over 800 horsepower. All that power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Bowler Transmissions Carbon Edition six-speed manual gearbox, and the engine sings thanks to custom-fabricated Ringbrothers’ headers and a Flowmaster Super 44 Series stainless-steel exhaust system.

The Ringbrothers team conducted extensive metalwork to convert the Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III chassis back into a unibody, in addition to widening the Mach 1’s bodywork two inches at the front and 3.5 inches at the rear. The wheelbase was extended forward 1.5 inches, and the car features a one-off custom-engineered roll cage to ensure safety and rigidity. Immense levels of grip come from sticky and wide Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrapped around HRE Vintage Series 517 wheels. Fox RS single-adjustable coil-overs and an independent front and rear Roadster Shop FAST TRACK suspension work to keep the Mach 1 glued to the tarmac with stopping power courtesy of massive Brembo brakes.

“The Mustang Mach 1 has always been an aggressive-looking car, and the client was adamant about creating a sinister aesthetic. We asked ourselves, ‘What would the final boss in a John Wick film drive?’ This was the result,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “Everything was cued off the Mustang’s original design, but we ramped up the drama, sharpened the lines, and added a number of one-off and 3D-printed details to make it truly stand out.”

The handcrafted bodywork is draped in a custom shade of BASF’s Bootleg Black. The trim is a custom color dubbed Grab-Her Green, a playful nod to Ford’s Grabber Green, albeit with a subtle change in hue to highlight the car’s villainous undertones. At the rear, Kingpin features a one-off carbon-fiber rear diffuser and lowered rear quarter panels that vent through a custom carbon-fiber rear tail panel. Additional one-off carbon-fiber components abound with the hood, grille surround, lower front valance and interior touches. The interior features upholstery and trim work replete with 3D-printed and machined brightwork and details, as well as a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum climate-control system, Dakota Digital gauges and a custom-made Ringbrothers “ENYO” crushed-carbon hoop steering wheel.

“Over 5,500 hours went into building KINGPIN and perfecting its aesthetics. Every piece of this car has been touched and updated with sharpening the original design cues in mind,” added Ringbrothers co-founder Mike Ring. “There are a lot of nuances that went into the design, and we’re grateful for our team of trusted partners like BASF, GENTEX, HRE Wheels and others for making it all possible.”
