2010 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction Preview

The 39th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale kicks off Monday, January 18th, running through Sunday, January 24th, with cars beginning to cross the block the afternoon of Tuesday, January 19th. Barrett-Jackson has welcomed more than 200,000 visitors to the Scottsdale event each of the last two years, and has another strong slate of collector cars and lifestyle activities to enjoy in 2010.

The docket at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale will feature John Dillinger’s Get-A-Way Car, a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe (Lot #1309); a 1963 Shelby Cobra CSX2091 (Lot #1303); a 1964 Shelby Cobra CSX2281 (Lot #1317); a first production 1966 Shelby GT350 (Lot #1302); a 1966 Mercury Comet flip top Funny Car (Lot #1306); the only airworthy 1929 Hamilton Metalplane H-47 in existence (Lot #1307); and a myriad of award-winning Chevrolet Corvettes, among many others.

Highlighting a long list of charity vehicles is the Richard Petty 2009 Dodge Challenger to benefit the Petty Family Foundation (Lot #1277); WD-40/SEMA Cares 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to benefit Childhelp and Victory Junction Camp (Lot #962); original BF Goodrich/Hurst 2010 Ford Mustang Pace Car to benefit Victory Junction Camp (Lot #701.2); and a 2008 SPX Ford Mustang FR500S to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital (Lot #1027).

In 2009, Barrett-Jackson sold 1,077 of 1,077 cars and one airplane for a $60,895,890 total. The average price per car sold was $56,542. In 2008, Barrett-Jackson sold 1,135 of 1,135 cars for an $84,475,985 total, with an average price per car sold of $74,428.

1963 Shelby 289 Cobra - CSX2091; correct date code engine and transmission. Engine was rebuilt, dyno tested 417hp and 356ft/lbs. Body and interior restoration done prior to current owner. Comes complete with top, side curtains, spare tire and jack.
1930 Ford Model A Coupe - Original car used by John Dillinger, Hommer Van Meter and John Hamilton to escape from Little Bohemia, Wisconsin and the largest FBI crack down in history.
1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible - 327cid/375hp Fuel Injection. Silver exterior with red interior. NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold Certification, Gold Spinner Concourse and Triple Crown proven in 2008.
1956 Chrysler Phantom Custom Wagon - Full custom all-steel wagon with over 11,000 hours of labor and hundreds of custom designed parts. Extensive magazine documentation and winner of top industry awards.
1964 Shelby 289 Cobra - CSX2281; original alloy body 289 Cobra. Older frame-off restoration in correct Wimbledon White with blue LeMans strips, chrome roll bar and wire wheels. Ex-John Moores collection. A unique and important Cobra with known Shelby History.
1966 Mercury Comet Funny Car - Lone surviving, 5 built, factory 1966 Mercury Comet 'flip-top' funny car. Volumes of factory photos and documents. Some historical firsts: 1st Stage I chassis, 1st automatic, 1st escape hatch.
1966 Shelby GT350 - Serial #SFM6S002; the first production '66 Shelby built. Fully restored by Cobra Automotive to the highest standards.
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible - Numbers matching 427cid/450hp V8, verified by Roy Sinor, NCRS National Judging Chairman, with a 4-speed transmission. Red with red interior, a white soft top and red hard top. 56,000 documented original miles.
1929 Hamilton Metalplane H-47 - Pratt and Whitney 'Hornet' engine with 525hp. Completely restored to original airworthy condition and the only complete example to exist of 29 manufactured.
1932 Ford Custom Roadster 'Double Trouble' - Multi-award winner at the Grand National Roadster Show and Detroit Autorama including best paint, best undercarriage, best engine and outstanding detail.
1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Z16 - Seen in many magazines with lots of coverage and has been restored. It is very correct and 1 of only 201 ever produced by GM.
2008 Ford Mustang FR500S - Working with Ford Racing, SPX purchased #00 with the goal of entering the Mustang Challenge Finale at Miller Motorsports Park with driver Gary Bennett of Barrett-Jackson. #00 is being sold to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
