RM Auctions will hold its 2009 Sports & Classics of Monterey auction on August 13th to 15th at the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Convention Center in Monterey, California.
RM Auctions’ 24th annual auction will feature over 240 cars, headlined by the ex-Phil Hill 1952 Jaguar C-Type; 1931 Miller V16 Racing Car; 1953 Ferrari 166MM Spyder Scaglietti; 1952 Ferrari 225S Berlinetta Vignale; 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe; 1955 Aston Martin DB3S; 1938 Talbot-Lago T150C SS Teardrop Roadster; 1932 Bentley 8-Liter Short Chassis Fixed Head Coupe; 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Race Car and 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder.
In addition, on August 13th RM will also offer the 52-strong Nick Alexander Woodie Collection, a fascinating and distinguished collection of some of the finest Ford and Mercury woodies of every era.
RM will be hard pressed to eclipse last year’s $44,093,450 sale, which saw twelve cars sell for more than $1,000,000, including two that surpassed the $2,000,000 mark. That is expected of course, as the economy and the classic car market are in a far different place. Plus, there are not as many “headline” offerings, with the Jaguar C-Type being the only car that should fetch above $2,500,000. A more attainable goal for RM would be to match last year’s strong 85% sales rate.
RM’s annual Sports & Classics of Monterey event returns to the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Convention Center, August 13th to 15th. The auction preview will commence August 12th from 12noon – 6:00pm, followed by full-day previews on August 13th through 15th with auction action each evening. Admission to the auction is $40.00 USD per person. An official auction catalog is available for an additional $100 USD (please note, a catalog does not constitute entry to the sale).
