To mark BMW’s 100th birthday, America’s Car Museum (ACM) is opening a new exhibit this weekend called “BMW: Propelling a Century of Innovation” – to highlight some of the brand’s most exciting vehicles. BMW began manufacturing airplane engines in 1916, but not until 1932 did the Munich-based company assemble its first automobile. It then proceeded to build a reputation for producing exciting cars coincidentally with the construction of the German autobahn system
To honor such a storied brand, ACM enlisted the help of several of its long-time backers — including ACM Board Member Manfred Scharmach, renowned BMW collector Peter Gleeson and Brooks Motor Works owner Kevin Brooks — to ensure that its display would have an unmatched assortment of vintage and modern BMWs to delight guests of all ages.
“A big thanks also goes out to the BMW Car Club of America and all who submitted their vehicles for helping us fill the display,” said ACM Curator of Exhibitry Scot Keller. “With nearly two dozen vehicles, it is truly a must-see for BMW fans!”
The cars featured in the exhibition will include a 1938 Frazer-Nash BMW 328 Roadster, a 1939 BMW 327/28, a 1959 BMW 507, a 1972 BMW 2002tii, a 1974 BMW 3.0 CSL Batmobile, a 1978 BMW M1 Art Car, a 1988 BMW E30 M3, a 2003 BMW Z8 Alpina and a 2006 BMW Z4M Racer, as well as a trio of 2016 models, an i8, an i3 and an X6
