Celebrated automotive historian, museum curator and author Ken Gross, who is also a Chief Class Judge and Selection Committee Member for Pebble Beach, has assembled the first postwar class of Mercury Customs to be shown at the fabled Concours, set for this Sunday, August 16, on the famed golf course’s 18th fairway.
“Customs of the ’50s were not about speed,” says Gross. “They were about looking good, going slow and getting the girls. This was an era when many men and women wore hats, but that just wasn’t possible with lowered rooflines, so these young people were making a fashion statement of their own.”
A full class of chopped and lowered Mercury beauties will be among the cars displayed at the 65th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, allowing attendees to see just how beautiful these particular custom cars could be. Information and tickets are available at www.pebblebeachconcours.net
