Oprah’s Cars Featured at Gooding’s Pebble Beach Auction

Oprah Winfrey, Mercedes-Benz 300SL GullwingGooding & Company, the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, has announced its latest consignment.  The company has been chosen to sell three of Oprah Winfrey’s classic cars to benefit the annual Arts and Culture Workshop at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls – South Africa.  The famed classic collector car event will take place August 16 and 17th in Monterey.

The three vehicles from Ms. Winfrey’s private collection include her 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (originally owned by the DuPont family), 1988 Rolls-Royce Corniche II Convertible (given to Ms. Winfrey by her long-time friend and actor, John Travolta) and 1997 Aston Martin DB7 Volante.

Among the other significant cars that have been consigned by Gooding & Company are the legendary 1959 Ferrari 250 GT ‘California’ Spider, the acclaimed 1934 Triumph Dolomite 8C 2400 Super-Charged Grand Sport, the rare 1938 ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Alfa Romeo 6C and the original 1914 Stutz Series E Bearcat.  More than 130 elegant cars are expected to cross the block at Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach auctions this year.
 
Additionally, the Dr. Peter and Susan Williamson Collection, the world’s finest collection of Bugattis, will be sold at Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach auction.  This monumentous sale of twelve Bugattis is expected to raise over $15 million, with the majority of the proceeds from the sale donated to the Dartmouth Medical School.
