2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance began in 1950 when spectators came to see a display of 30 cars in the Del Monte Forest. That is a stark comparison to today, as the annual event attracts thousands of attendees to see and celebrate the craftsmanship and timeless beauty of some of world’s rarest and most historic vehicles.

Held on the historic Pacific Ocean-facing 18th fairway at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance showcased more than 230 classic cars from 12 countries. The total estimated cost of the vehicles spread across the fairway was well over $300 million dollars.

The Pebble Beach Concours is an automobile experience unlike any other, as the cars all seem to possess a fascinating one-off history and a spectacular appearance. Plus, the ocean front setting is unmatched, and the entire Concours experience is care-free. In short, it is a very special event that all car enthusiasts should attend at least once. It is so good in fact that one quickly runs out of superlatives to describe the cars. Words like “spectacular” and “beautiful” are simply replaced by a nudge of the elbow, a shake of the head and a mutually understood, “Wow.”

The 59th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is slated for Sunday, August 16th, 2009 with Bentley and Bugatti serving as the official marques.
