RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, will lift the gavel on an exceptional, race-bred 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 (chassis number 0858) when the highly anticipated Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event returns to Maranello, Italy next month.
Ferrari 330 P4 Chassis 0858 has a significant provenance with a well-documented international racing career spanning a number of different continents from Australia to South Africa and Europe. For the past 38 years it has been under the care of its current owner, during which it has only be shown at very few exclusive events in the United States, including an appearance at the Rolex Monterey Historic automobile races in 1995 and again in 2003.
The legendary 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 will join an unprecedented selection of important road and racing Ferraris when RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, present Ferrari Leggenda e Passione, May 17 in Maranello, Italy.
Now in its third year, the single-day event is the only auction dedicated to the Ferrari marque, held within the factory grounds and endorsed by the Ferrari factory. With 34 historic Ferraris all certified by Ferrari Classiche, and three Maseratis set to cross the block, this year’s historic line-up eclipses RM’s previous two record-breaking Maranello collections.

Is this a “cut-and-paste” 330 P4 ? I cannot recall that I ever saw it race in this configuration by the factory. Could anybody tell me how i can send you a photo (jpeg format) ?
Lorenzo –
As we know it, the P4 is configured as it was during Ferrari’s foray into Can-Am.
In 1967, the two P4s (0858 and 0860) were modified with a smooth front-end devoid of any lights, a different rear spoiler and two air intakes curving outward to the fuel injection trumpets.
They were called the Ferrari 350 Can-Am.
You can email a picture to [email protected].
Thanks ! I totally lack the CANAM in my Curriculum ! Hence my rather stupid questions ! Thanks again for the info and congrats with your fantastic in initiative sportscardigest.com that I so much enjoy.
I second that Lorenzo. Thank you sportscardigest.com for putting out such a good site.
Lorenzo,
I believe that the ‘cut and paste P4’ you are refering to is the one created by Bob Northwood in the early 80’s, using original body spares and a modified 512 BB frame
Indeed ! It (the Bob Northwood car) was nonetheless a nice exercise in my humble opinion. Franco Sbarro in Switzerland also once or twice made a recreation of the P4 so I believe.
Although he two air intakes in the back seem out of place, the other changes work for me. Not as pretty as the original, but still one of the best ever!
Magnificent race car. Personally, however, the better than new restoration is awful.
If you think this P4 has been restored, we suggest you take a second look at the pictures, especially the interior shot.
While it is certainly shined up for the pictures, this car has not been restored.
My first thought, (after I could breathe again!) this is, “automotive pornography”… its simply too darn hot, sexy, etc, etc to be true!
Thank you for the wonderful site and ongoing auto erotic pictures!
