The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2014 was held Sunday, August 17th at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. More than 200 automotive treasures lined the 17th and 18th holes of the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links for the 64th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Every year on the third Sunday in August, the most prized collector cars and motorcycles in the world roll onto one of the best finishing holes in golf – the famed eighteenth fairway at Pebble Beach. Originally a small social event paired with a road race, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has grown into the top-ranking collector car show in the world. People from all over the globe come to compete in or simply enjoy the event at Pebble Beach.
With a total of 27 classes including feature and special classes, the cars of Maserati and the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa headlined the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Additional feature classes included Ruxton, Antique Steam Cars, Fernandez et Darrin Coachwork, Tatra, postwar Rolls-Royce Phantoms and Eastern European Motorcycles. The otherworldly display of 20 Ferrari Testa Rossas — on their way to a tour to Santa Barbara — were situated in prime position nearby the 17th green and 18th tee.
The judging process at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is two-fold: Class Judges focus primarily on originality and authenticity, while Honorary Judges direct their attention to design, styling and elegance. To be eligible to win Best of Show–the event’s top award–a car must first win its class.
Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2014 was awarded to the 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe owned by Jon Shirley of Medina, Washington. This stunning result was the first win for a postwar car since 1968. It was also the first Ferrari to win.
When asked about the significance of the win by his postwar car, Shirley said, “I just hope it means that some more will have the chance to do the same thing. There are some wonderful coachbuilt postwar cars, and I think the owners should bring them here and try for the Best. I’ve won Best of Show before but this was really a special thrill to do it with this car.”
Other nominees for Best of Show included a 1934 Hispano-Suiza J12 Fernandez et Darrin Coupe de Ville owned by Robert M and Anne Brockinton Lee of Reno, Nevada; a 1934 Packard Twelve Dietrich Convertible Victoria owned by Frank and Milli Ricciardelli of Sarasota, Florida and a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Vanvooren Sports Cabriolet owned by Lord Bamford of Gloucestershire, England.
The 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2015.

Wonderful, wonderful pictures! The Testa Rossas must have been something else to behold in person. Thanks for bringing it to my home.
Merci bien tres belles photos
Steve Earle started the ball rolling for Ferrari appreciation weekends in 1974. Steve wanted to get friends together with old race cars at Laguna Seca Raceway, back then mostly old Ferraris, to use and enjoy a quickly developing heritage. The Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance always excepted Ferraris place in the universe of very special automobiles and invited several to their August car show. But it all escalated in 1984, Steve featured Ferrari for the tenth anniversary of his Monterey Historic Races and the PBCd’E featured examples as well. Again in 1994 and 2004 Ferrari overwhelmed the Monterey peninsula as features at the Steve & Debbi Earle Historics and the PBCd’E, The The Ferrari Owners Club was on board in 1984 and the Ferrari Club of America in 94 & 04 conducting special tailored Annual Meetings tied in to these Ferrari Celebrations (sadly the FCA decided to wait till next year to tie into Monterey Holy week.)
My point, those of us who love the car show aspect of “Ferrari” hoped in 84, 94 & 04 that a special Ferrari would be chosen Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance “Best of Show”.
I pray the church bells in Maranello rang last night in celebration for Jon Shirley and Family’s 1954 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe 0402AM. Butch and Nancy Dennison & crew (International) of Puyallup, Washington restored this car. (these same folks restored the 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C2900 Touring Coupe for the Shirley’s and won the 2008 PBC d’ E Best of Show) This is Extraordinary and icing on the cake was the display of Ferrari factory team and customer pontoon V12 Testa Ross’s by the sea at Pebble Beach. Thank You “Sports Car Digest” for this report. And, Thanks Steve, Congrats Jon & Dennisons
Best regards,
Sam Smith

Alex from Bavaria.
A few here are almost as pretty as my 1933 JKS le Mans roadster!
Terrific job, spectacular photos of amazing cars.
Nice to see 0714TR again, I enjoyed being involved with bringing it back to life after it had languished in a collection after 20 years or so with the same fluids in it that it was parked with :o)
The cars are, as was to be expected, amazing. The photography, however, is peerless. What an astonishing photographer Tim is!
