Vintage Racecar‘s Peter Collins has been accepted to participate in the NEC Classic Motor Show Tour, organized by HERO, the Historic Endurance Racing Organisation. Peter will be driving his 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI (above), and providing readers with a “From the Cockpit” report in a subsequent issue of VR. Each tour is around 100 miles long with an anticipated time of three hours to reach the NEC for an afternoon at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show — the UK’s biggest classic car show — set for November 11-13. These will take place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the show, and will begin from either Lion Quays Hotel & Spa, Oswestry, Shropshire; near to Junction 29 M1 motorway in Derbyshire and the The Vale Golf Club, Pershore. The routes have been designed to avoid major traffic areas en route to the NEC while using mainly roads that are enjoyable to drive in your classic car. Narrow “Yellows” will be avoided wherever possible. Timed at a leisurely 30 mph or less, crews will take up to four hours to arrive at the NEC, then park in the dedicated parking area relaxed and ready to enjoy the show.
Vintage Racecar/Vintage Roadcar will be exhibiting in the Premier Hall, and have already secured a 1933 3-Litre Invicta as part of a four-car display. VR‘s European Editor, Mike Jiggle, said, “We’re looking to offer the public another amazing display of cars, and inviting a number of personalities to our stand. We have set a high standard, and we intend to build on the success of 2015. In the coming weeks we’ll reveal more news of our exhibits.”
