For the first time in Goodwood Festival of Speed history, supercars will battle against the clock as part of the 2014 Michelin Supercar Run. Road-going supercars will do battle in a bid to reveal which manufacturer produces the fastest production machine.
With representation from many of the world’s manufacturers during the timed section on the Saturday afternoon of the event, an intense contest is guaranteed on the 1.16-mile hillclimb.
The Festival of Speed will feature the dynamic debut of Honda’s all-new NSX supercar prototype, which will feature a three-motor hybrid powertrain when it is launched in 2015. Other new models appearing include Volvo’s new V60 Polestar – already a winner in race trim in Australia in its debut season and the Jaguar XFR-S Sportsbrake.
As ever, the Moving Motor Show, held on Thursday, 26 June, will be a hotbed of manufacturer involvement with presences confirmed by: Audi, BMW, Citroen, Dacia, Ferrari, Ford, GKN, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Rolls Royce, SEAT, Skoda, Toyota and Volvo.

THESE are the cars that should run at LeMans, not the ridiculous deadend “prototypes” and such like. A few more seconds on the soapbox if you please: and no replacing of entire components like gearboxes, etc.; if it breaks durin the race, you’re out. Let’s race REAL cars–cars with some semblance of a production run, and streetworthy to boot. Grrrr!
Amen, they are racing high $ Priuses with no relationship to the real world. Mark Weber must feel silly in that little 919.
You are definitely onto something. It would be great seeing these obscure manufacturers have a chance at Le Mans and other endurance races.
