Marchand Watches – The Debonair Collection
Following in his Swiss born great-grandfather’s footsteps, Daniel Brigham, founder of the Marchand Watch Company, has recently produced a motor racing themed range of wristwatches. Having always thrived to start a business and continue his involvement within motorsport, it was whilst having a coffee and doodling on a piece of paper that this new brand was born. Harking back to his grandfather’s occupation and taking the styling from his own motor racing career the sketch schemes and planning of these new timepieces became a reality after a successful “Kickstarter” campaign.
The watches are a definite nostalgic return to the rugged days of 1960s sportscar racing with a steering wheel and speedometer face reminiscent of the driver’s view from the seat of an A.C. Cobra. The distinctive steering wheel design occupies the ten, two and six locations, accompanied by the very distinguished ‘M’ and laurel wreath brand logo in the twelve position. Whilst racing themed products may be commonplace, these new wristwatches make a unique statement of their pedigree. With a diameter of 43mm and standing proud 10mm from the wrist there is an evocative air to this avant-garde timepiece. The first batches of watches, under the banner of the “Debonair Collection” are now available to pre-order. Varying face, case ring and strap colors offer seven configurations of the basic design with a carbon fiber edition waiting in the wings to pre-order. The internal working is a genuine Swiss Quartz movement with a three-year battery life. It is water resistant to 10ATM – 100meters. Not satisfied with having just one style and design, work has already started on the prototypes of a second collection for the New Year.
There is a certain sentimental idiosyncrasy to the concept of this watch that will appeal to many motorsport aficionados. With a very reasonable price tag of £269 you’ll be happy to treat yourself to an early Christmas present.
