Emerson Fittipaldi was honored by the Road Racing Drivers Club on April 6, 2017, prior to the running of the 43rd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The evening event boasted a capacity crowd in celebration of the two-time Formula 1 and Indy 500 champion.
It was the RRDC’s ninth consecutive annual banquet honoring auto racing’s leaders. Previous honorees included Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Roger Penske, Jim Hall, Brian Redman, Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser and George Follmer. Gurney, Jones, Andretti and Follmer were in the audience to help celebrate the occasion.
