Brian Redman has accepted the position of Grand Marshal for the 2nd Annual Bahamas Speed Week Revival, scheduled for this Nov. 24–Dec. 2. Redman, a multi-time racing champion in the U.S. and overseas, will join Patron Sir Stirling Moss and Event Ambassador Derek Bell, MBE, for the second running of the Revival.
The event, a week-long celebration of racing, gala gatherings and parties, is open to racecars of the original period from 1954–1966, Classic Cars and Modern Supercars, and will build on the success of 2011 with the addition to the format of a Speed Week Concert and a Miss Speed Week Beauty Pageant, lining up alongside the now traditional Pictet Bank Gala Ball. Last year’s favorites, the 007 Island Tour, Arawak Cay Sprint and the Fort Charlotte Hillclimb, will continue, with announcements of other events to be made soon.
“It is a great honor to be appointed Grand Marshal and to be part of such a significant event,” said Redman. “Although I didn’t compete in the original Speed Week events, this will give me an opportunity to share in the nostalgia of those days and help provide some interesting cars for fans to enjoy.”
Redman will help provide entrants from the USA through his popular Targa 66 Club, based in Vero Beach, Florida, as event organizers anticipate hitting their maximum target of 60 cars. Demonstration races for Formula Junior and Vintage Formula Vee, groups that raced at the original event, will also be held.
Each entry package is for two people and includes shipping the car to the Bahamas (via container from Felixstowe for UK entrants, and on a specially chartered Roll-On/Roll-Off ferry from West Palm Beach for U.S. entrants), event entry fees and all hospitality. Entries will be strictly limited to 60, and spaces are filling fast.
For the opportunity to have some high-octane fun in the Bahamian sun, British and European entrants should contact Entrant Coordinator Carol Mason at [email protected].
