Porsche returned to Le Mans in 2014 with a newly designed LMP1 racing machine, the 919 Hybrid. While victory wasn’t in the cards for their heralded return to prototype racing, with 16 overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, rest assured that Porsche will do everything within their power to remain the most successful manufacturer in the race’s history.
Until then, Porsche will lean heavily on their history, including their last win in 1998 with the 911 GT1. Case in point is this video on the history of Porsche and Le Mans 24 Hours through its racing cars that are exhibited at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Some of the video clips taken in Museum Depot have never been shown to the public.
