Pinehurst Concours 2014 – Class List

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster at Pinehurst ConcoursThe class list was released for the 2014 Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance, scheduled for May 2-4 at the Pinehurst Resort and Golf Club in North Carolina. Applications are now being accepted from potential entrants into the 119-car field.
The 2nd annual Pinehurst Concours will kick off a prestigious six-week period at Pinehurst Resort, which will also host the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open in consecutive weeks in mid-June.
The inaugural Pinehurst Concours in May 2013 attracted more than 5,000 fans despite rain and unseasonably cool temperatures and has drawn rave reviews from entrants and collector car enthusiasts across the country. A 1938 Steyr 220 Glaser Roadster, one of two known to exist, was awarded Best in Show.
“We’ll have classes in 2014 you see at traditional Concours, but there are some classes that car enthusiasts won’t see every year, like wood-bodied and limited production car classes,” said Jay Howard, executive director of the Pinehurst Concours. “We’re also bringing back muscle cars. So there is a lot of opportunity for automotive collectors, not only from the East Coast, but the entire United States to bring their cars to Pinehurst and find out just how special a place it is.”

“We had quality at our inaugural event but the caliber of the cars is ratcheting up,” said Brian Barr, the event’s director of competition. “We started out with great regional appeal and now as we put our selection committee together we’re including members from the West Coast who have asked to help, so it’s very positive. For a first-year event we got on the map very quickly.”
