HSR-West has announced the resurrection of historic racing in sunny Palm Springs with the creation of the Palm Springs Revival, to be run November 18–20, 2005. According to HSR-West president Ed Swart, the Revival race meeting will be held at Cochran Regional airport, in nearby Coachella Valley, and will be part of an existing air show that has been held at the airport for several years.
Swart went on to state that this new event will feature a challenging, but safe, 2.2-mile course laid out on the airport’s runways, and will be run as a three-day spectator event, with vendors and car club participation.
This year’s event will mark the return of historic car racing to the Palm Springs area after nearly a decade of absence. Of course, the very roots of West Coast road racing trace their way back to the first running of the Palm Springs Road Races at the Palm Springs airport in 1950.
