Rick Parsons and Don Devine have formed the Vintage Indy Racing Group to facilitate the further inclusion of Indycar racing within the historic racing community. Parsons is a former new era Can-Am competitor and currently races in Historic Formula 5000, while Devine once drove the fabled Scarabs for the Meister Brauser team as well as racing in the original Can-Am.
A key element of the new organization is an exclusive arrangement made for a limited supply of turbocharged Cosworth XFE engines, complete with contemporary electronic management systems. VIRG has also formed a partnership with McKee Engineering for the installation of these new engines into the various chassis, whether or not the XFE was original equipment. In cases where it was not, conversion kits will be produced.
Both partnerships have been made with Parsons’s Vintage Motorsports Racing Services, which has also recently purchased the remaining inventory of Lola F5000 and new-era Can-Am parts from the original importer, Carl Haas Auto.
