Sir Stirling Moss is set to be the honored guest at this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion’s annual Picnic in the Park on Saturday, August 16. Historic racing luminary Murray Smith will conduct the popular noontime session in the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca marketplace where fans may bring their lunch, listen to stories and ask questions.
Maserati’s selection as the Reunion’s Featured Marque in observance of the marque’s 100th anniversary provides a natural link to Moss, who considers the Maserati 250F to be the “first proper Formula One car” he drove during his career. That career ran from 1948 to 1962, with Moss entering 527 races and finishing 375 times, his 212 victories giving him a remarkable win percentage of 56.53 percent.
