The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion 2014 was staged August 14-17 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California. Nearly 550 historic race cars, split into 15 different competition groups, roared through the turns and straights of the 2.238-mile, 11-turn circuit situated on the Monterey Peninsula. Italian car manufacturer Maserati, celebrating its 100th anniversary, was this year’s featured marque.

Similar to the 2012 and 2013 races, photographer Michael DiPleco also documented the 2014 Monterey Reunion, offering the following pictures that show the diverse field of vintage race cars at the famed Laguna Seca track. We split up Michael’s 270 images into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite images, all displayed in the full-width view of Sports Car Digest, while the second gallery can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs.

Oops! Picture #2 on this page is not a 57 Corvette- has to be 59, 60 or 61.
Good catch! It was a ’60 model and we updated the image accordingly. Thank you!
Great coverage Michael, pic´s 203 204 Lister Knobbly?, the yellow sports racer, rebodied?, as this is the strangest Lister Knobbly I have ever seen… And a correction, pic No 87, following the green Morgan +4 is a Datsun 2000, not an MGB. Good to see the tree framed photographs of cars in the Corkscrew. Cheers from Sweden.
I’ve just returned from Monterey and Pebble Beach.Your superb photos represent, artistically and perfectly, all the joys of having been there. Thank You!
Great photos (thanks!), but again – photo no.195 is captioned “1972 Nissan Skyline GTR” when the car is NOT a genuine GTR and doesn’t even have the correct engine.
This car was originally a KGC10 Skyline GT or GT-X model and left the factory with a 12 valve SOHC L20A engine. A genuine KPGC10-coded Skyline 2000GT-R would have the 24 valve DOHC S20 engine and a myriad of other homologated differences from the mass-produced KGC10. How on earth is the car in question relevant to what claims to be an ‘Historic’ race?
