The 38th renewal of the annual vintage racecar celebration at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, enjoyed another glorious weekend in mid-August, with drivers from 13 countries in some 550 cars taking part in races for 17 classes as the event honored the 50th anniversary of the introduction of Jaguar’s E-Type.
Bob Tullius, whose Group 44 outfit led Jaguar’s racing efforts in North America for a decade, a quarter century ago, was an honored guest for the weekend along with Martin Brundle, the British driver who won Le Mans for Jaguar in 1990. The two were featured at Saturday’s Picnic on the Green, where fans were regaled with various stories from their careers during the usual Q&A session moderated by Murray Smith.
