The Lotus 87 was a Formula One car built by the Lotus team in 1981 for use in the World Championship and was driven by Nigel Mansell and Elio de Angelis. The Lotus 87 was a significant step forward for the team, as it was the first Lotus F1 car to be constructed using carbon fiber.
