Pace lap, Road america, July 19, 1970, the trans-am’s hardest-fought year. in a field of 36 cars, the Mustangs of follmer (16) on pole and Jones lead Hall’s camaro and Savage’s Barracuda, which will come home 2nd.then it’s posey, who will be 3rd in his challenger, and ultimate winner donohue in the Javelin. Jones will finish 5th, follmer won’t finish lap 1.

Still racers, after all these years. That’s what I was thinking as one veteran driver after another mounted the stage and regaled us with stories of his Trans-Am days.
The Trans-Am: It started way back in the mid-‘60s, which means these guys must be, gosh, mumble-mumble years old now.
