Patrick Peter, organizer of the immensely popular Le Mans Classic historic race event, has announced that he will be staging the second such event, to be held July 24–25, 2004.
The inaugural event, held in 2002, saw 30,000 spectators witness 300 historic racecars take to the track for 24 hours of racing. For this coming year’s event, organizers have restructured the categories to allow for Le Mans–eligibile cars built up through 1978 to compete in one of six differrent race groups that will run in fewer track sessions but for longer periods of time, allowing for driver changes within a session.
