Thank you for the info on Monza 0604. I saw the photo of it with Danny Sullivan’s name on the
headrest; how did that happen, and who owns it now, I wonder. I still don’t get why you took
all those closeups and no complete cars. I saw Wayne Carini’s show on the Kuwait Concours,
and there were many, many very interesting cars which you seem to have missed completely.
Wayne brought a Chrysler dual cowl phaeton; very nice. They had a different theme on each
of three days, including one for motorcycles. Lots of very good stuff; the Kuwaitis are real
car nuts. Cool!
I see another Ferrari I used to own is coming up for auction. It is 1954 Europa 0391GT, engine
no 0727; the only Ferrari I ever saw with a telescoping steering wheel. The story on the engine
is {so they say} the original owner wanted an uprated engine for racing {or just because}.
He later sold the car back to the factory. They had other uses for the engine, and installed
0727 in its place. I was working in the New York area in 1963, and bought the car from
Luigi Chinetti. Used it as a daily driver, and when my job there was done drove it home
to Seattle. Used it occasionally, and sold it around 1985 to a woman whose name I
don’t remember. The only trouble I had with it was the rear end went out. Replaced ring,
pinion, all bearings and seals. It was a good, sound car. The photos I’ve seen of it really
do it proud; it’s good to see it looking this way.
Do you have any idea what has happened to Monzas 0602 and 0606? After Jean Sage
redid 0604, it was pretty spectacular. Hope it still is.
Ever notice how some cars you never forget? I have a few others too!
