The Celebration of Automobiles that proved so popular with fans and participants in 2011 will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next May, as part of the festivities leading up to the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500. The event, scheduled for May 10–13, 2012, will honor “The Manufacturers of the Indianapolis 500” as well as the rich history of the race.
The inaugural Celebration of Automobiles this past May featured more than 200 classic cars from 1911-1961, and was one of many memorable highlights of the month-long centennial celebration of the Indianapolis 500. Vintage-classic cars from 1920-1970 that were produced by manufacturers participating in the 500 during that era will be the featured vehicles in 2012. This group includes Alfa-Romeo, Auburn, Bentley, Bugatti, Buick, Chrysler, Dodge, Duesenberg, Ferrari, Fiat, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Stutz, among others.
