Every year Lord March, the inspiration and drive behind the glorious Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival events, provides the world’s press with an opportunity to take a glimpse into what to expect from the coming year’s events. This year it seemed to be more of an event within itself rather than a few “hacks and snappers” getting a brief on both events. It was evident, and I heard many comment, that the array of vehicles on display and taking passengers up the hill were more in number than at the first Festival of Speed some 19 years ago.
It is true, over the years both the Festival of Speed and Revival have become dates in the diaries not only of those in the motor racing fraternity, but socialites too—these events are now those where one wants to be seen. Consequently, it’s not just the motor racing press that Lord March panders to, but columnists from the world’s leading newspapers and lifestyle magazines as well.
