Last October, I was in the paddock at Indianapolis where all the historic racers were assembled. I found myself in the presence of the most outstanding collection of race-ready Formula One cars that I have ever seen. Most of the owners were readers of VRJ – hi, guys!
What a contrast that made to the Formula One paddock. I did not see a single 2001 F1 car except from the grandstands. At the back of every garage was a chicane of screens and a large man with no neck, who probably did not spend his spare time rescuing kittens. I even had a pass to the inner sanctum and yet I could see nothing of the machinery.
