The Danville Concours d’Elegance 2014 was held September 20-21 on the historic downtown streets of Danville, California. The 10th annual event included a traditional Concours, plus a Tour d’Elegance rally and Dinner d’Elegance celebration at the Blackhawk Museum.
Best of Show at the 2014 Danville Concours was awarded to Gordon and Theo Johnson’s 1948 Bentley Mk VI.Additional award winners included Pre-1960 Sports Car presented to John Grosseto’s 1955 OSCA MT4 1500, Dennis Peck’s 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Mk III Roadster won American Sports Car from 1961 to 1969 the 1973 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS of Verna Griffiths won Pre-1991 Ferrari and Alan McCrary’s 1936 Cord Cabriolet took home the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Jim Lawrence Drivers Award.
The Blackhawk Museum’s ex-Briggs Cunningham 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight was the featured car at this year’s event. Briggs Cunningham had worked with Jaguar for several years and wanted to race their supremely successful sports cars. Cunningham raced car #14 in 1963 and performed admirably against more experienced drivers.
The Danville d’Elegance Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations in their pursuit of a cure for Parkinson’s disease, while raising funds to benefit the advancement of both Parkinson’s research and patient care. Each year the Danville d’Elegance Foundation has steadfastly increased its fundraising goals from the initial $45,000 in the first year to $500,000 in 2013, providing funds to both The Michael J. Fox Foundation TEAM FOX and the Sunnyvale-based Parkinson’s Institute. Since 2004, the Foundation has raised more than $2 million for Parkinson’s research and patient care.
