CSRG’s 10th Annual Charity Challenge at California’s Sonoma Raceway attracted a near-record entry, ticket sales hit an all-time record and the popular charity rides marked a 40 percent gain. Centerpiece of the event was David Love’s 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. Love, who passed away on the Saturday morning of the event, helped co-found CSRG 46 years ago and was a constant driving force on the vintage racecar scene.
Among the event’s other attractions were F1 cars on display (including Chris Locke’s ex-Mario Andretti Lotus 77), four-time World GP Motorcycle champ, Eddie Lawson, driving an Osella PA3/5 and a March 78B, and 1992 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Lyn St. James, driving a Brabham BT21. CSRG’s Saturday night party was attended by 450 revelers who enjoyed the wine and food provided by Sonoma eateries while a blues band entertained.
