A 1930 Cord and a 1932 Alfa Romeo were selected as the Best in Show winners at Sunday’s 20th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, which drew a record-breaking crowd of 32,000 during the weekend. More than 315 cars and motorcycles were on display at the Concours as a stunning 1930 Cord L29 Brooks Stevens Speedster (right) claimed the Concours d’Elegance award and an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 (left) scooped the Concours de Sport trophy.
The Cord, owned by Ed and Judy Schoenthaler of Oak Brook, Illinois, was completely redesigned by well-known Wisconsin architect and car designer Stevens, who acquired it in 1930. The flawlessly restored Alfa, owned by David Sydorick of Beverly Hills, California, boasts a strong competition heritage, having won the Mille Miglia in 1932, 1933 and 1934 and the Spa 24-hour race in 1932,
