The inaugural Concorso Atlantico celebrating Italian automobiles will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort on Amelia Island, Florida. Owners of vehicles of Italian heritage are invited to display their vehicles on one of the Omni’s golf courses bordering the Atlantic Ocean.
“We are looking forward to hosting a great selection of Italian marques for the inaugural Concorso Atlantico, as this event will be a gathering to celebrate unique styling and fellowship among owners,” says Concorso Atlantico Chairman Ken Perry. “Many of the world’s most sought-after sports cars were designed and built in Italy, and we hope that this will be the start of a long automotive tradition at the Omni. We want to hear from all of the ‘tifosi’ in the Southeast and invite them to show their pride and joy with us.”
The “People’s Choice” award winner at Concorso Atlantico will be given unique recognition by having their vehicle put to canvas by Minneapolis-based artist Joe Burns. He will be at the show to sketch and photograph the winning car from which he will produce a one-of-a-kind portrait for the winner.
Additional supporting events for Concorso Atlantico include an informal golf tournament tentatively set for Friday, March 9, at one of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort’s golf courses, and a post-event party on the property at the conclusion of the Saturday concours. Early arriving entrants will also receive special pricing for admission to the Gooding & Company Auction on Friday evening. A limited amount of space will be available for owners of non-Italian sports cars, who wish to display them at the Saturday Concorso Atlantico.
Entry fee for cars is $150 and covers two participants and the public will be admitted at no charge; there will be a nominal charge for parking. A registration form may be downloaded from the Concorso Atlantico website and clicking on the “Register Now” tab. Proceeds generated from Concorso Atlantico will be donated to charities serving Northeast Florida.
The 2012 Concorso Atlantico will be held Saturday, March 10th, from 10am to 4pm, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort located at 6800 First Coast Highway on Amelia Island, Florida. Concorso Atlantico is a separate and independent automotive event and is not affiliated with The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance or its sponsor The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance Foundation, Inc.
