Cavallino Classic Sports Sunday 2016 – Report and Photos

The Cavallino Classic Sports Sunday 2016 was held January 25th at Mar-a-Lago, the Marjorie Merriweather Post mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. The last event of the larger Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, the one-day event featured American, Italian, French, British and German classics on the show field at Mar-a-Lago.

The finale for the 2016 Cavallino Classic featured the ‘Automotive Romance of Alfa Romeo’. Among the great selection of Alfa Romeo automobiles on display were the 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Berlinettas of Jon Shirley and the Revs Institute; the Mille Miglia-winning 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 of Tom Price; the 1967 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 of Joseph Nastasi and the 1967 Alfa Romeo TZ2 of David Sydorick; among others.

Best of Show at the 2016 Classic Sports Sunday Mar-a-Lago was awarded to the 1924 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A F. Ramseier and Cie Worblaufern Cabriolet owned by Jim Patterson, fresh off winning the same award at last year’s Pebble Beach Concours. Other notable winners included Sam and Emily Mann’s 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 winning Most Elegant, the 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Scaglietti of Robert and Helen-Ann Phillips taking home Finest Competition and Orin Smith’s 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic swooped up the Most Unique award.

Similar to the Concorso d’Eleganza and Classic Competition, photographer Michael DiPleco also documented the Cavallino Classic Sports Sunday 2016 with the following pictures from the lawns at Mar-a-Lago.
