On its own merit, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance is shaping up as the one of the best in the eighteen years of the Florida event. With celebrations of the Porsche 911, Ford GT40, the cars of Harry Miller and others, there are more than enough reasons to visit this year’s Concours.
And now, there’s another with the addition of a new show on Saturday preceding the main event on Sunday. The duPont Registry Cars and Coffee at the Concours, sponsored by Heacock Classic Car Insurance, will be held Saturday, March 9th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the 18th fairway of the Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, Florida.
“From the moment we created ‘The Amelia’ there’s been a demand to expand the scope of the show even further,” said Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance founder and Chairman Bill Warner. “The duPont Registry Cars & Coffee will be open to the public with no admission fee.”
The Amelia event may be a little different from the average Cars and Coffee, as the inaugural event has been chosen by Chevrolet for the first North American unveiling of the new Corvette Sting Ray after the Detroit International Auto Show. The morning will not only showcase the latest Corvette, but will feature the latest from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, BMW, Infiniti, Bentley, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz.
The show field at the duPont Registry Cars and Coffee at the Amelia Island Concours will open at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 9th to local car clubs that will be part of the show. Members of invited local car clubs will display their cars on the Saturday field along with many new offerings from automotive partners. There is no admission charge and additional information can be found at www.ameliaconcours.org.
