Among the offerings at its annual auction at Quail Lodge during Monterey Auto Week, Bonhams will present the Michael Amalfitano Collection of rare competition Porsches. Included in this group are: a 917 that began life as an endurance racing coupe, driven at Le Mans in 1970 by David Hobbs and Mike Hailwood that was subsequently converted to Interserie/Can-Am form, in which it remains today; a 1967 910 prototype coupe with which Gerhard Mitter led that year’s Nürburgring 1000 Km; a rare 3-liter, flat-8 908 “Flounder” Spyder from 1969; a 1975 Carrera RSR; and a 1988 962 prototype.
