The Antwerp Classic Salon 2013 was held 1-3 March at the Antwerp EXPO in Belgium. This year’s event celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911 by focusing on its illustrious racing history.
Now in its 36th year, the Antwerp Classic Salon saw well in excess of 20,000 visitors enjoying the 350 exhibitors displayed over four halls totaling 215,000 square feet of exhibition area.Spectators were greeted with stands from clubs and museums, old and new spare parts, automobilia, art, literature and accessories, tuning and restoration advice and more than 400 classic cars for sale.
The main theme at the 2013 Antwerp Classic Salon was a selection of road and racing Porsche 911 versions, including a 911R and Le Mans Kremer Porsche 935 racers. Further 911 entries on display included a 1964 2-litre version, a 1972 2.5 ST, a pair of 1974 RSR 3.0-litres, a 1984 SC/RS Group B Rally Car, a 1977 Porsche 935 K2 driven by Bob Wollek and a 1980 Kremer 935 K3 driven by John Fitzpatrick, Jochen Mass and Rolf Stommelen. A 964 Carrera RS Clubsport, one of 1280 examples built, a 2010 997 GT3 and a 2012 Carrera S were also exhibited.
Various dealers and clubs exhibited pre- and postwar cars such as Lagonda and Rolls-Royce, while many Jaguar, MG, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz automobiles were also well represented. The Antwerp show also saw a varied selection of American cars, including Cadillacs and Packards of the thirties to the Chevys and Fords of the fifties and sixties.
