Jackie Stewart—World Championship—The Official DVD Biography
The market is, and for years has been, full of videos —and more recently DVDs— on motor racing’s characters, but this is the first one produced by the son of the subject. Mark Stewart, son of Jackie and Helen and brother of Paul, has come up with the most detailed and most strikingly visual record of his father’s life and career. The lengthy DVD is packed with excellent period footage of racing and home life, with evocative stills of the Stewart family. Mark has captured Jackie’s thoughtfulness on many issues: safety, other drivers, Ken Tyrrell, the cars he has driven and the changes in racing. The highlights are the many interviews with Stewart himself, Tyrrell, Walter Hayes of Ford, Emerson Fittipaldi, Sean Connery, Helen Stewart, Niki Lauda and many others. It is easily the most watchable film biography of a racing driver I have seen.
