Masters Historic Racing will take part in the festivities at this year’s United States Grand Prix for Formula One, scheduled for October 23-25 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The Masters Series, then known in the USA as Historic Grand Prix, was part of COTA’s inaugural USGP weekend in 2012 (shown).
Entries will be invited from among the Masters Historic Formula One series in the USA and Europe, ensuring a stellar field of historic Formula One cars. The grid will be limited to 38 cars, and the race will be the only time this year that the Masters series shares a date with the F1 World Championship. The event will also serve as the season finale for Masters seasons in both the USA and Europe.
“It will be awesome to see some of the most famous cars in Formula One history on track at Circuit of The Americas during the U.S. Grand Prix weekend in October,” said F1 and Indycar champion Mario Andretti, who serves as a COTA ambassador. “The sights and sounds of these iconic machines will bring back great memories for me of my own days racing in F1, and I’m sure the fans who come to the U.S. Grand Prix will leave with some incredible memories of the cars that so many legendary drivers used to race.”
