February 2008
This was the incident that ended Bob Daley’s career as a Grand Prix photographer. Chris Amon in the remaining Ferrari passes the horrifying crash of his teammate Lorenzo Bandini. Bandini had clipped the chicane and his car had been thrown across the track, into the straw bales, which caused it to overturn and catch fire. The fire was put out quickly but Bandini died shortly afterwards from his injuries and burns.
